ADBIS Special session on Big Data: New Trends and Applications
(BiDaTa 2013)
Sept. 1st 2013, Genoa, Italy
In conjunction with the 17th East-European Conference on Advances in
Databases and Information Systems (ADBIS 2013)
September 1-4, 2013, Genoa, Italy
Session overview
Large volumes of data (Big Data) are being produced by various modern applications at an ever increasing rate. These applications range from wireless sensors networks (e.g., climate/weather monitoring, intelligent mobility, water metering) to social networks and e-commerce applications. Innovative data models, algorithms, and architectures have to be designed to deal with the “Big Data four V-dimensions”, namely Volume, Velocity, Variety, and Veracity. These new paradigms of software and hardware design should efficiently store, manage, and analyze such huge data volumes, providing the necessary scalability and flexibility for novel big data analytics applications. These challenges have been attracting great attention from both academia and industry.
This session will provide a forum for researchers, professionals, and practitioners in the industry sectors to discuss the research issues and share new ideas and techniques for big data management and analysis/analytics. We welcome research papers, application papers, and papers on experience reports on various aspects of big data.
Topics of interest for this session include but are not limited to the following:
Submissions should present original results and substantial new work not currently under review or published elsewhere. This session accepts:
Papers must comply with the AISC formatting guidelines (instructions for authors are available at http://www.springer.com/series/11156). Papers should be submitted in PDF format using the online submission system (https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=adbis2013), selecting "Special Session on Big Data: New Trends and Applications".
Publication
Session papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in the AISC series (Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing).
Extended versions of the best session papers will be published after the conference in LNCS Journal Transactions on Large-Scale Data and Knowledge-Centered Systems, Springer (http://tldks.faw.at/about/) which is indexed by DBLP and Scopus.
